  • Bruxism :

Bruxism consists of an unconscious contraction of the mastication muscles during the night. This manifests itself by a grinding or clenching of teeth. There are two types of bruxism: centred, when teeth are clenched, and eccentric when the jaws rub together, causing grinding of the teeth. The origin of bruxism is unknown. Recent studies reveal that bruxism could be associated with a lack of control of movements during sleep, with particular personality traits, with smoking or even a high level of stress.
