  • Halitosis :

Halitosis, or bad breath, is due to the formation of volatile sulphur compounds, which are expelled during exhalation. These compounds are made by bacteria present on the tongue. In the majority of cases, halitosis is due to poor oral hygiene, inflammation of the gums or infections in the mouth cavity.

In a few cases only, the origin of bad breath is not oral and is due to serious pathologies such as diabetes, kidney failure or certain cancers.
