There are so many conditions that could affect your oral health, from halitosis to gingivitis, inflammation of the gums to ulcers. That's why good dental care consists of brushing, flossing and rinsing your teeth with Listerine® mouthwash everyday, and paying your dentist or dental hygienist a visit at least once a year.

The mouth is essentially the opening to the Upper Respiratory and Gastrointestinal Tract; however, there are various organs and functions that are found in the mouth:
  • The tongue helps you taste, eat and speak.
  • The tonsils help remove toxins from the body.
  • The parotid glands function as the main salivation glands.

Adults have 32 permanent teeth (compared to the 20 ‘milk' teeth), differentiated according to their external structure and various functions.

Of these 32, four are the 3 rd molar or so-called ‘wisdom teeth'. However, some people do not have wisdom teeth, and only have 28 permanent teeth. If you are one of these individuals, don't let anyone fool you into believing that this compromises your intellectual capacity! That is a myth and not a fact!

The following are known to be disorders of oral health:

Halitosis:
Bad breath caused by tooth decay, gum disease or throat infection. Gingivitis: Inflammation of the gums. Usually caused by poor oral hygiene Periodontitis: Inflammation of the tissue supporting the teeth. Ulcers/Lesions: A break in the inner lining of the mouth, often caused by viral or bacterial infection, stress, vitamin deficiency or poorly-fitting dentures.

Prevention
Rinse with Listerine® Mouthwash twice a day after brushing, to kill the bacteria responsible for these oral disorders that hide in the spaces between your teeth where brushing does not get to.
